I already have an unpopular opinion of the Obamas that I think they're overhyped and didn't do as much good for the U.S. as everyone claims. But, let me be clear that they are one million trillion times better than Trump.

For a memoir called Becoming, there was very little in this book about the experiences that made the former first lady who she was. It reeked of privilege and while I understand that part of that was due to luck and the family she grew up in, I wanted more grit and more about her overcoming struggles. Even her infertility struggles were short-lived when she got pregnant on her first round of IVF and it produced one of her daughters. I just found this to be so unrelatable and I guess I wasn't expecting that.

Wow, I have always admired Michelle, but reading her memoir made me love her even more. I especially enjoyed learning what it was like to live in the White House under so much security watch and the public eye. Side note: their dogs are so cute!

Not sure if now was a good time to read it or a bad time to read it, but this was a hopeful reminder of what America once had, and what I hope we can have again some day.  I especially loved having it be read by Michelle herself.

I have been listening to this book during my commutes to and from my internship and I enjoyed it. There was a brief period of time where I had stopped listening as I "ran out of listening hours" on Spotify and was waiting for my subscription to renew to continue! I really loved listening to Michelle's story behind her upbringing and how she got herself to where she was. It was really inspiring and it gave me a lot of hope that one can do anything as long as they put their mind to it. Listening to Michelle and Barack's love story coming to be was really sweet. That, and learning on Michelle's POV about how politics can get in between lots of things with their life. A great listen! Highly recommend!

Wonderful. I love auto biographies of any kind, but this one in particular was extra intriguing because not only was it the story of Michelle Obama's life- it also felt like a peek into the political landscape of the last two decades from an insider's perspective. Genuinely interesting and surprisingly hopeful & inspiring, I left this book feeling motivated to make change and grateful for the people who do. Made me cry multiple times, Michelle did a very good job. Would recommend to any woman.
