I really loved this series. It was really interesting to see how Alanna changed from the "boy" in the start of the series to the end where she is full-on Lioness.

I really enjoyed the mythology of this world, the different Gods and Goddesses, the magic, and even elementals! I can't wait to read more about the different types of creatures and Gods that have been portrayed in this story.

I am not really a fan of when there are multiple romances in a story involving the same lead character, but for some reason, this story really portrayed how the heart can change and relationships can evolve. I really enjoy the end pairing, I will admit I did know who Alanna would end up with when I started the book, so it wasn't a surprise, but it was still a good turn of events in my mind.

I can't wait to read more books in this world, especially as the rest of the books will likely be better than even this series as the author evolves her writing.

This was such a quick read me - usually the opposite when it comes to the "last" book in a series or arc but I knew I would enjoy it and enjoy moving onto Wild Magic, so that might have been part of it. Lioness Rampant is a great end to Alanna's central arc and it was a joy to ride along with the Woman Who Rides like a Man as she goes through her journeys thus far. Absolute solid addition to the Tortall series.

Enjoyable end to the series. My one qualm is that I wish the author had chosen to end the last few pages with notes that Alanna continued her voyaging and questing; not slapping a "Oh let's tell the Bahzir we're getting married! Yay for marriage!" ending on a series where the main character spent every book declaring she never wanted to be saddled down with a man! Otherwise though fun to read and good characters to follow.

Oh man, 15 years and the Dragon's letter still makes me bawl. It's a better conclusion than I remembered.

...in which Alanna cries ALL THE TIME, but not over the one death I thought she really should. She also doesn't seem to especially love George all that much. I know in Pierce's first draft of this series Alanna ended up with Jon instead, and she really didn't do enough in the re-write to make the change make sense. Like, you're having Alanna date around. That's great. I appreciate that honesty. But even though George appears to love her, for Alanna's part she could just as easily have made a breakthrough with Liam, or become the Queen of Tortall, or disappeared into the desert for the next 300 years to start a harem of progressive Bhazir gents. I don't know. Three stars again for nostalgia, but these books are kind of bad (sorry, middle-school-me).

3.5 stars. This book was much better than the last two. I'm glad I stuck it out.

Some things I didn't like:
1. Alanna always seems to be sleeping with somebody - why??
2. Animal abuse is always horrible even if the animal is an embodiment of the Goddess.
3. The whole storyline with Thom.
4.
SpoilerWhat was Roger's real purpose that Alex hinted at that was never revealed unless I missed it.

I enjoyed the new characters, especially Thayet and Buri. I love the old characters, George and Myles especially. I'm happy with how the book ended.
