I enjoy these books, though I have many issues with them. They seem to race through everything, not really going into detail much, even sometimes with battle scenes. This was a very good end to the series though, somewhat predictable, but I don't mind that. Alanna is a great character and did a lot of soul searching and discovery of herself throughout the series. She finally grew up and realized what she wants in life. George Cooper is my favorite character, so I'm happy he got a great ending as well. I will be reading the other series for the land of Tortall once I have them all.

That ending. So many emotions. It wasn’t exactly the ending I would have chosen but I enjoyed it all the same. Overall, this series was great! It definitely had similar vibes to the storyline of Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight but for a younger audience. I liked it so much that I’m going to continue with the Tortall universe and I’m looking forward to The Immortals quartet!

As I was reading this book as part of a read-along with a group of friends I was excited to get to this book to find out how the series was going to end. It surprised me with how it had ended. Whilst I was reading it, I got through many emotions, sometimes I may have got annoyed at times at certain characters. However, at the end of reading the book, I was happy and relieved to see how it ended. I could see how much the characters had changed throughout the series.

I think 15 years ago I would have eaten this series up and I'm shocked and appalled that no one ever put these books in front of me as a child

I liked that we got a lady knight with boy problems, and evil wizard problems, and something that read like PTSD. Bruh, woke culture hasn't produced something this lit yet.

A bit disappointed. Everything felt a bit rushed at the end.

I was sad to see Alex' story go to waste. He has been a bit of an outsider through the entire series but still a friend of Jon so it would have been nice to read about his motives and why he's dedicated to Roger.scottbusche's review against another edition

Disappointing end to a disappointing series. The first two books had some world building to balance out the bland plot, that didn't really happen in the last two.
