Once I got past the book it wasn't as exciting anymore. The ending felt underwhelming, but I can't deny that the book kept me entertained for the most part. Not a bad option for anyone who's into suspense and fiction.

The book keeps you on your toes. Just when you think you understand whats happening, King comes in with a well placed plot twist to leave you second guessing your initial thoughts.

I really enjoyed this book. It was pretty long, but I think necessarily long to build the story. The characters felt very real, and the villain was scary enough that I was actually kind of scared. It does have some child-directed sexual violence, but on the periphery. As in, it feels impersonal because you don’t know the children involved. It absolutely helps to have read the Mr. Mercedes series prior to this, but not necessarily a deal breaker - it would just help with some references.

Really glad that I listened to this book prior to starting the series on Max. The story was very interesting and well-paced for me. The only thing I didn’t love was the switching of voices for the different characters within the text.
