A strong read. Vampires are clearly prevalent for the novel, but it is more a novel about friendship, the lengths people will go to for each other, neglect and bullying. I liked Eli and Oskar’s friendship in the novel, and the ending is badass. I enjoyed the read throughout. It isn’t so much thriller and suspense, but it is enthralling.

People are awful and I want to take just one continual shower now. Just live in a cleansing shower for the rest of my life.

"Oskar is the constant target of bullying at school, his parents have split up, and there has been a rash of murders confusing the local police and frightening everyone. In the midst of all this, a mysterious girl named Eli moves into his apartment building with a man who claims to be her father, but obeys her orders like a slave. When the two lonely children make a connection, Oskar has no idea that he will be dragged into the darkening world of murder, lies and secrets that surround his new friend.
John Lindqvist uses a small *Swedish suburb in the grips of winter for the background of this hypnotic story, dealing with themes of isolation, the dangers in our own back yard, and terrible choices made in the name of survival. Let the Right One In builds slowly, using multiple viewpoints with unforgiving language to create a landscape of faltering connections and an indifferent world."

Great book. I did want to know more about what happened with some of the characters, mainly Tommy, and it left me wanting to know what happened after the train ride.

I loved the way this book was written. And I hated all the characters bc they were bad people but amazingly well written. I would love to read the original but I'm not learning swedish.

very creepy book.
There's nothing feel-good about this book. Even the relationship between main characters, which could have been the only heartwarming element of the story, becomes unsettling.
The story is shocking at times, often disgusting.
I still liked it, even though I was uncomfortable reading it.

This is one of those extremely rare books where I enjoyed the movie more than I had the book (that doesn't happen often). I feel that the guy that wrote the screen play really captured the vision that the author of the book was trying to seek.
