look. i googled the author to see if they were white (and she sure is) eight pages in. in general, this book has the air of someone trying to write carefully about things they’re not actually all that familiar with, and while it punctured my suspension of disbelief many a-time, i still walked away caring deeply about these characters and, most importantly, buying their love story. so yeah. good but not great, fun but not vapid.
