Family Drama and revelations

Was a little annoyed Finn was 'bedridden' for a couple of characters though the interaction behind him and the Death Magen was really interesting.
Rohan trying to do good and ends up causing problems for Fae is somehow understandable even if unintended. That last scene between him, Finn and King Thalanial, heartbreaking.
The sex scene was hot, not much less to say.
Tyeron being an intimidating giant puppy for Finn is adorable

I have to say, I'm intrigued.
Wasn't expecting this to be short, (which is why I rating it 4.5 stars,) but it honestly just makes me want to get started on the next book. (Which I do have.)
I have to admit that Finn begrudgingly getting along with Christopher (especially when teasing Miles and appreciating a portion of the work he does (minus the poisoning of animals)) is honestly fun to read.
Rohan and Finn's meeting and first sexy time was steamy, despite it being their literal first meeting.
Tyeron the king of wolves also seems like an interesting character and I want to see more of him.

Unfortunately, I saw the twist coming from a mile away, but I still really enjoyed the book Edwards Fox’s voice acting is phenomenal looking forward to the next one!

I’m not gonna lie my expectations weren’t set very high going into this, fairytale retelling is always a hit and miss for me but I love how this took some inspiration from Cinderella and made it its own rather than copying the entire story! My only issue was that they were intimate a lot sooner than I was expecting, I love a good slow burn and I heard this series is about 4 books long so I was expecting one but I guess not. The story was easy to follow too it didn’t information dump at the beginning like most fantasy series do so I appreciate that! Although it moved rather quickly I love Finn and Rohans relationship, Rohan is down bad lol (this is completely unrelated but when I think of the name Rohan I was not expecting a blond idk why maybe that’s just me) that’s all I have to say Definitely will be looking into the next book.

Woaaaaaahhhhh
I love this so much. This author is so talented, and I love the new characters added. I think the Cinderella plot is gone in this sequel but the plot is still very interesting.

Wow! I am loving this series so far. A gay Cinderella story and fae! So perfect for me. No dull moments and the plot is really engaging.

Reading this was like watching a telenovela but in English... and a book... with substantially less slapping.

This second book takes off far beyond the Cinderella tale with only the most basic resemblance: an oppressed child and a royal. Nonetheless, this was an unexpectedly strong second entry into a magical world (literally!). This second book takes a turn into more of a high fantasy story line. The pacing & adventure are well done. The characters are bonding at a natural rate. Some of the secondary characters are being developed.

The ending of the second book is a little bit abrupt, but the continuation is at least scheduled to release a couple of months after this one did. So there won't be a many months or years long wait. Glad I started reading these first 2 books in this series because now I have another book to look forward to. 2020 can't be over soon enough. Here's hoping 2021 lives up to our high expectations of a more normal life.

I've been continually impressed with the high-quality, prolific amount of writing by X. Aratare/Raythe Reign. This is another fantasy entry with strong, well-written characters & sometimes quite complicated characters. The story takes place in a complex world with allusions to the systemic interdependencies natural to any real world. So interested to see how this develops!

I've read the first 2 books in this series and can see it is going to be a solid world and unique story line all on its own, with or without the Cinderella base.
