I generally love Susan's stories, but this one was simply too short for the story to develop properly.

Love Fool's Gold but the novellas always leave me wanting much more of the characters. Prefer the full-length novels.

I think this novella moved too fast for me. I liked Ryan and Fayrene. Hated her name, but liked both of them. They shared only kisses and hugs, but the ending shifted focus and I got lost on the last page. Did not expected that coming.
I prefer the novels in this series, but I've read a few novellas that we're better.

What I read: Halfway There. T Susan Mallery
Why I picked it up: Downloaded a bunch from the series for my trip.
How I read it: On Kindle while flying
What it’s about: Fayrene has a plan, Ryan has no plans just dreams … and a car giving birth brings them together.
What I liked: I appreciated the slowness of their relationship.
What I disliked: The conclusion was just silly. But also it’s a short novella.
Genre: Closed door romance.
Rating & Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️ and only as part of the series.

A story about 2 peripheral characters in Fool's Gold. Fayrene who is not interested in a relationship while she is trying to get her career off the ground and a man on a short term contract.

This was a mini-book, novella, super fast read that I downloaded from the online library because I've read every other book in the series so why not? It was good, short, not a lot of depth but fun. I liked the characters, they were really strong and focused people who instead of falling into the typical break-up-get-back-together romance routine this story just soldiered through. I'm glad it did. I wouldn't necessarily say this book was integral to the series unless you just really want to read them all (like me), most of these books are fun stories that can stand alone but are more fun when you get to know the whole town. Halfway There is a take-it or leave-it title in a good series.
