I think I was preparing myself so hard for the absolute worst going into this that by the end I actually was like 'wow, that wasn't even that bad!' LOL which is twisted. But I guess I read a lot of dark stuff and... the way this is written and delivered makes it feel lighter than it is. The art style is gorgeous. It oscillates between dark and detailed and whimsical to chibi and adorable and funny quite rapidly, which again lessens the seriousness of situations (depending on the type of reader you are, this could be a positive or negative for you).
This manga is dark and weird. But like, you read the description and picked it up, so that shouldn't be surprising. It does what it says on the tin. I expected to be more horrified than I was. The story and writing in this vol is more of a 3, but I gave it a 4 because of how much I enjoyed the art and the delivery of these subjects. I freaking smiled a few times reading this. Because there were tender moments. Wasn't expecting that. Wasn't expecting the humor. I'm glad it was there.
