Yikes this couple doesn’t seem to have any chemistry what so ever. I cringed so much while reading. This is a DNF 40%

I really loved the premise of this book, humans are an endangered species and live in a kind of sanctuary together and monsters of all kinds apply to meet them through an agency for a date and if that goes well after a few dates they can move in together for a "trial marriage " and see if they would work as a couple in the long term.
Theo and Celeste are the sweetest couple ever! Theo is the biggest cinnamon roll on the planet (emphasis on *biggest*

I wanted to like this. First time reading this author and the story was super
b o r i n g. Pretty forgettable FMC. MMC was slightly more interesting as a character, but bc this is single POV from the FMC, we still don't get a lot about him. And the fact that I found the MMC *more* interesting without having any internal monologue from him should say a lot. I didn't understand or see how the couple fell for each other bc their convos and dates were so painfully generic. Also, there's a part when Theo says that he appreciates how direct Celeste is, which makes Celeste happy bc she says many people tend to not like that about her personality. My issue is that until that point in the story, and after that, she is actually never direct about what she's thinking or feeling. She's also annoyingly nervous/anxious and lacks confidence. I have very little patience for FMCs like that. Especially when they never grow beyond that, like Celeste. Theo was sweet and lovable, so I guess there's that.
The spicy scenes were decently written, certainly much better than the character and relationship development. I probably won't be reading this author again.
Narrator did as best as she could with the genetically written story.

The sweetest. I could’ve cried. The FMC was (oddly) relatable and I enjoyed the spin on the “Women on Mars” trope. Also, we all deserve a Theo. 🥹 (Also also, this book is 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️!!!!)
