Took me a bit to get into this book, but pretty soon I couldn't put it down. I had previously read - and loved - Station Eleven and Sea of Tranquility, both excellent sci-fi books. The protagonist in this book is Anton, someone who grew up in a family that dealt in a number of shady businesses. Anton aspires to be an honest citizen, but he understands his family's situation and participates. Anton's cousin Aria is the brain behind a number of illegal activities, and she draws Anton in.

The characters and the dialogue are top notch and the tension builds exquisitely.

Not my favorite of her work, but I enjoyed it for the most part! I think I might have rated this one higher if I had read it in fewer sittings.

Between this and Station Eleven, I'll definitely check out the rest of her books!

Voor mijn gevoel veel overeenkomsten met Glass Hotel (of andersom) maar alsnog een hele fijne schrijfstijl. 3.5 ster
