2023 Review - Better reading it now but still unbalanced. Where's I think everyone gathering and the big fight is great, and Thanos being a Mad Titan that fits his name so well, is great, the last two issues feel too zanny and far out there without the grounded feel of first 4 issues. Saying that I enjoyed it overall and bumped it to a 3.

Original Review: Well I just had to finally sit down and read this before Infinity War. Thoughts? It's not bad.

Basically Thanos wants to prove to death his worth. So what does he do? Well he kills a lot of motherfuckers. There's a huge moment where basically every avenger ever plus some all go to fight the big badass but he simply swats and beats them away. Killing a ton shit. Of course they'll come back but before that he stomps out most of them.

Good: Liked watching Thanos beat the fuck out of everyone. I also thought the start was pretty good set up and gave us a lot to worry about.

Bad: Didn't love the art. Sorry, old art is hard for me to enjoy. Looks too goofy. I also thought the ending was exposition out of the ass and I was bored last two issues for sure.

Overall this was okay. Fun, but not as epic as I had hope. I'd probably say worth checking out before the movie but honestly the newer Thanos stories are far better IMO. A 2.5 out of 5.

I never read the original, despite being really into comics when it came out. It was actually quite wonderful to read a comic in that style I remember from my childhood.

Cosmic Books bore me.

This one tried to keep things connected with the Silver Surfer and Doctor Strange, but ultimately, it was kind of a snooze.

I enjoyed Ron Lim and George Perez pencils, but I didn't particularly care for Joe Rubenstein's inks.

The art was good, and the story kept moving, but honestly, I kinda liked the "Super Hero Squad" version that's on Netflix. At least Thanos has a sense of humor in that book.

Anyhow, I'm not really looking forward to Marvel's film version of this story.

not really what i was expecting, but not bad.

The Infinity Gauntlet is an undeniable classic. It's an epic event featuring nearly all of the big Marvel heroes against a supremely powerful being. Unfortunately it's lacking in a few places. The first is length; for such an epic storyline, the conclusion is reached a bit too quickly. The story could use 2-4 more issues to breathe. The second is the short-sightedness of the gauntlet wielders. Luckily, the art is gorgeous and the story captivating. Worth a look for cosmic Marvel fans.

Thanos + Avengers. I cannot wait. This was an awesome series and I can't wait to read more Thanos stuff.

You can tell what I did yesterday, right? Not even an hour later I was watching this and it says a lot about the quality of the film and my nature as a reader to always find out more.

You can see in this volume some things that made it into Infinity War and some things that may well come to pass although likely with less clutter.

Thanos is a great character and my feelings for him probably carried this book a bit as he's less three dimensional for most of this book.

As with all big event volumes it struggles to give time to the characters, but is full of action and constantly pushing the narrative forward. Not to turn this into a film review, but Infinity War did manage to give all the characters at least one cool moment with some getting several.

I'll continue my exploration into the lore of Thanos and I may spoil some of Avengers 4 for myself, but my readerly spirit wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanos, dude, she's just not into you.

A literal meaning of 'courting death' by the mad titan Thanos.

There was an idea. To bring together a group of remarkable people. To see if we could become something more. So when they needed us, we could fight the battles that they never could.

With Infinity War just mere days away, it's appropriate to look back at the event comic that started it all.
Event comics are just plain fun combining all the characters you love and follow to team up against a greater threat. In this case, that threat is the mad Titan Thanos. His goal? To use the Infinity Gems eradicate the universe all in order to woo Death herself. Problem is that Death has no interest in Thanos whatsoever, this makes him angry and cause massive destruction. All of this gets the attention of the heroes and that's when the war starts! So many great battles here told in excellent artwork. And it even shows how high the stakes are with popular characters dying and the earth in chaos. This is a good book to read, but it's not for anyone that's just beginning in Marvel. Even those who only know the movies will be lost, since characters, relationships, and plot points are pretty different from the movies. Still if you're a fan, this is definitely on the recommended reading for Marvel. Infinity War will be out this week and I'm excited!
