irritating. a lot of territory covered but reading was a chore. trying to be too clever.

Never really felt settled in this book and as a result it felt over before it began.

This book is highly criticized as one of Amis’ worst novels. It was the first of his that I read and I found it quite enjoyable. I was looking for “Money” in used book stores but couldn’t find it so picked it up. I look forward to reading more from this dude in the future.

Ultimately left a bad taste-clever writer, skilful use of language, and cynical world view, but I didnt like the essential English class warfare which clouds a certian type of Englisg lterature

Pretty messed up and unpleasant

Nåede til side 73, og så kunne jeg ikke holde sproget og opbygningen ud. Der var ellers nogle ok elementer her og der (sikkert).

Shite.

As an Amis fan this was difficult for me to read. Still, it's not as bad as the reviews made out. But not great either. More like a 'best of' rehasing old, familiar themes. Or perhaps a remix and demos album would be a better analogy. One for the curious only.

What a waste of time and energy. Don't bother, it's terrible.

I had only discovered Amis a few years prior and had ravenously devoured most of his books to this point in time (disliking only a couple, while considering most of the rest masterpieces).
I was, of course, profoundly excited for his first new work in 7 years and to be reading it in real time. It is, however, a slight disappointment and the beginning of a downturn in his writing that he hasn't really ever recovered from.

It's still better than most of the dreck on the market, but it's not up to his previous standards.
