First I want to start off by saying that this book is one of my favorites. My mom was an English major in college and read it for a western lit. class. She loved it so she recommended it to me. It took me a while to finish this book because I had loads of stuff going on and I was just really busy but I’m happy I stuck with it.
The story in the book is timeless and the characters are ones that the reader could look up to. The old English can be a little difficult at first but once you read a chapter or two you’ll forget it’s not written in modern English. The book includes themes of adventure, romance, star crossed love, and loyalty.

If ever there was a book I could’ve written, I wish it had been this one. To be the genius who took dozens of folktales, ancient scripts and stories and put them into one heart wrenching and beautiful narrative…no that was Joseph Bedier, the horrible, brilliant bastard.

Perhaps now I shall put a prayer to the lovers who console the weary and love stricken, Tristan and Iseult the Fair.
