Re-read 2021:
It's always a pleasant experience to go back to a book you enjoyed years ago and find that it still holds up. This is a sweet story, and quite enjoyable (even if it does bypass the opportunity to use one of my favorite tropes...).
I particularly like how this retelling manages to make Cinderillion's relationship with her stepmother and stepsisters difficult, without the falling back on the simple device of making them *evil*.

Moderate: Grief and Death of parent
Minor: Kidnapping
There is one kiss, briefly described. There is a bit of danger and adventure, but the tension isn't played up. Magic and wishes are referenced (along with one reference to prayer, oddly) but only in hints of background causes, nothing outright magical is seen.
