Editing was lacking. Lots of spelling/grammar errors. Places where the wrong form of a word was used (ex. using “due” instead of “due” or using “straitened” instead of “straightened”).  Very noticeable and distracting.

Honestly the majority of the book was ok, but 75% was redundant.
We spend basically the first 75% flipping between Paedyn being the captive and Kai being the captive.
As such the plot never seems to progress. Especially since all this happens in basically the same setting. Basically nothing happens in the first 75% of the book which is too long. There’s also the matter of the weird data dump that is clearly because the author got a lot of criticism on book 1 for missing motivations. I think this book had a lot of potential it just missed the mark.

What the heck am I supposed to do until April?! God damn. Honestly, very unsure about the ending. I have my theories but that was so fucking out of the blue. And the epilogue seemed a little rushed. But otherwise, such a roller coaster of emotions.

I think I enjoyed Powerless more than I did the sequel. Parts felt rushed and it felt dragged at moments.
However, I loved the moments we saw with Kai and Pae that weren’t just them arguing and bickering. But actually communicating.
That ENDING

Absolutely flawlessly written book. Definitely counting down the days to read the third one once it’s released. Such a cutesy and also serious storyline, it’s the perfect balance between red queen, shatter me, and hunger games.
Non plot ruining spoiler about nicknames :) :
the pure love I feel towards Kai Azer is unhealthy, personal favourite nickname he has for Paedyn is 100% ‘darling’. Perfection. He’s just naturally so caring it’s unreal

Thank you Lauren Roberts, this book will be on my mind until the next title is released 🫶
