It was a fast read and felt like a side character adventure but it was fun. It did get predictable and boring at times but it was still enjoyable. They really played on the chemistry between the two and cleared the air on most of their miscommunication errors which was nice. 90% full of our favourite tropes btw. There are so many moments that it felt almost too much but it works fine.
There is no magic in this book- at all. Which I found interesting but they didn’t do a lot with building the surrounding city’s much more than the general animosity towards the “Magic Onlys Party” city. They did play into a more physical defence tactic due to not having anyone for Kai to mimic and where he falls short she exceeds and how they “work” together was fun.
Much like the first one where it’s not too serious of a read that’s more of a fun time full of tropes.
It felt very slow until 60% when things start to pick up AND THAT ENDING ?? I DIDNT THINK THEY WOULD DO THAT TO US ???
I’m sat for the third one now.

But unfortunately I can’t say the same about the second part.
The timing of the first kiss was horrible. In my opinion it should’ve either happened at the end of the first book when they went outside during the final ball OR the second kiss scene should be the first.
I think in general a lot of things were just very unrealistic and this made it very hard for me to connect with the characters as a reader. Kitt’s pov was just insuferrable and also made no sense.
On top of that there were a lot of repetitions like the constant “I hate him”, “I’m going to kill him”, “oh no I can’t kill him” “maybe I don’t hate him??” and “oops we kissed again”..
and also a very limited vocabulary, because some sentences were repeated over and over again.
While reading the first book I was constantly excited and didn’t want the book to end, this time it was the complete opposite.
The end was very predictable
I hope that this was just a (bad) build up for the third book and that we won’t be disappointed again.
I’m giving 3,5 stars because I loved the first book, likeable protagonists and I have some hope for the last part.
