“I may be a monster, but if you cut me, I'll bleed. And if you break my heart, Pae, you'll break me. So, if even a sliver of your soul longs for mine, I'll spend the rest of my life trying to deserve it.”

I had a Powerless series week in July just after this was released. I bought the first book back in February and pre-ordered Reckless thinking I would have finished the first book before this was released. So there I was, having this book but have not finished the first one but no regrets because the first book was a slight cliff-hanger so when I found out this book started right after the first book ended, I died (although this book had a much more intense cliffhanger).

I love the chasing between the two main characters and you can definitely see how these two are prime enemies. The first book is simply seeing them two fall in love but this book, you'll see them fall in love on a deeper level because nobody is hiding anymore. So when you're cheering for them to just get together while they're chasing one another, you'll definitely swoon by the time they just let go and just fall.

The ending of this book is really intense so I'll definitely order as soon as it comes out!

Honestly the majority of the book was ok, but 75% was redundant.
We spend basically the first 75% flipping between Paedyn being the captive and Kai being the captive.
As such the plot never seems to progress. Especially since all this happens in basically the same setting. Basically nothing happens in the first 75% of the book which is too long. There’s also the matter of the weird data dump that is clearly because the author got a lot of criticism on book 1 for missing motivations. I think this book had a lot of potential it just missed the mark.

I think I enjoyed Powerless more than I did the sequel. Parts felt rushed and it felt dragged at moments.
However, I loved the moments we saw with Kai and Pae that weren’t just them arguing and bickering. But actually communicating.
That ENDING
