About a year or two ago, YouTube started pushing some mustang training videos into my feed. Realising that, even if I myself was no longer really capable of horseback riding, I could still watch these beautiful animals through my screen, I started following a few of the people who try to give mustangs a chance at a life after being captured. A month ago, I joined my local library (finally), and started digging through their horse books. Needless to say that when I saw the title and the summary of this book, I was immediately sold.

It sounds crazy, doesn't it, a 2000 km long journey through the Mid-West on horseback? I really worried for the horses’ health. But thankfully, there were stopping points and vet checks throughout the course, so even though there were horse and human injuries, everything was checked upon throughout the journey.

In hindsight, I was expecting to have read more of Alex and Will riding together, and while it was definitely there, there was so much else going on in the book that there didn’t seem time left for that, almost. I also was expecting to see a bit more of
Spoilerthe people arriving over the finish line, but I guess that wasn’t possible since you’re following Alex and Will, and they did not arrive at the end of the line first on the last day (I don’t think that’s really a big spoiler, as it’s the sum of the arrival times of all the days that gives the winners, not of the last day alone.)

I really did like the neatly tied up ending we were given, and would not have minded to have been given even further glimpses into their lives. But I guess I will just have to do with what we got. Personally, I think these kids will make it. ;)

If you like hores's, adventures and a little bit of romance then this is the perfect book for you. I finished the whole book in 4 hours and I was so involved that I didn't even realise it was the end until I flipped over the last page

Exciting, fast-paced, and completely addictive! I finished this in one night. Some elements are far-fetched, but that can be forgiven because it makes for a great adventure story.

This is my second time reading The Glory, and I still love it just as much I did the first time. The story follows a teenage girl with a troubled life but a passion for horses that just burns so brightly. However, her spirited but chaotic nature leads her to a camp for 'troubled' teens, where she suffers at the hands of Warden Cartright, and meets a Palamino Mustang, Scout, who is just as wild-natured as she is. They share a common goal: to be free. And thus begins their journey to freedom, love, and new, happier beginnings more suiting to their natures and hearts.

Coming from a family who loves horses, I've been obsessed with horse fiction since I was young. Though I've never taken lessons myself, this novel makes me yearn to try - if I can somehow get over my anxiety. But all in all, if the rest of Lauren St. John's books are as good as The Glory, I shall definitely have to read them!
