This is a good cozy mystery for summer! It’s a quick read too; I finished it in less than an hour and a half.
The story, the characters, and the murders certainly keep your attention! I do think the solving and wrapping up of the murders feel kind of rushed compared to the amount of time spent on other aspects of the story, but that’s about my only concern with the book.
I definitely recommend this book for a cozy beachfront (or staycation) read!!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit, it definitely fits in with the cozy mystery genre with the fact that it gives a perfect Murder She Wrote vibe while still standing on it’s own two feet! Viola, Lucas and Cheryl are a trio I’m absolutely interested in reading more about!

2.5 stars - A bit boring for me and I didn't connect with the protagonist or the love interest

This book had a lot of potential. I really liked Viola as a main character. I related to her personality and her interests and she was fun to read about. Unfortunately this book was riddled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. *SPOILERS I could have lived with those issues if it wasn't for the fact that during the big reveal it was suddenly discovered that Andrea was Kyle's ex-girlfriend. Like this was big news that cracked the case. Only problem is that information was revealed not once but twice earlier in the book in Chapter 13.* So really that kind of spoiled the ending. It's a shame too because I did enjoy the rest of the plot and the characters. I feel that if Shéa MacLeod got herself a good editor most of the issues would have been solved and this would have been a 4/5 instead of 2/5. I might venture into some of her other works to see if the editing has improved.

This was my very first cozy mystery I’ve read and I’m so glad I chose this to be my first! It’s well written and kept me completely engaged. The characters were extremely well written. The women were strong, independent, fun, and, most importantly, realistic! Their reactions to situations seemed real and the interactions between the all of the characters were phenomenal. I never felt like the dialogue was forced and there were several times I chuckled out loud at some humorous remark or comeback made by a character. The story setting was so fun to me. It was set at a writing conference in Florida. I love the idea of the main character being a writer. I can’t exactly explain why, but it feels so fun!

With the current state of the world it was nice to feel like I was somewhere else with these characters. I will be continuing to read this series and I recommend it to anyone who needs an escape.
