It was okay.

Jonathan is pretty much the same as Aiden, just with more power. And Aurora is pretty much like every other FMC in this series. Maybe a bit stronger, just as immature šŸ˜…
That was it, I guess, it felt like I was reading another dark romance with teenagers as the main characters, only they were full adults this time.

The smut was mediocre, way too much spanking and a pretty bland first anal.
The story was quite predictable, but that's always the case. And I really didn't see the plot twist coming, so that's good.

What can I say? It was okay, I'll continue reading this series and these books remain at least entertaining so... here we go again.

This one just took me forever to read. I'm unsure if it was where I was getting ready to go on vacation, struggled to get interested in the first book of the duology, or just this book in general. Still, it just took me forever to read it. I really wanted more from the story, especially after the build-up that the first book started. But I think it just fell flat for me. It was really steamy, and I believe the steam took over the book to the point where the ending revealed and wrapped up everything too fast. I wish we had focused more on what was happening than Aurora and Jonathon. Plus, this one also fell into the miscommunication trope, and that's just one that tends to drive me bananas rather than actually work for me lately.

Second half of Jonathan king and Aurora Harperā€™s story.

Auroraā€™s father, the notorious serial killer Maxim Griffin, is now accusing her of being an accomplice while heā€™s trying to get parole. Once her new identity is released then sheā€™s thrust back into the publicā€™s eye and a target of the victimā€™s families. Thankfully she has Jonathan on her side, but she has to figure out if heā€™s trustworthy before she can fully accept his help and devotion. On top of all of that, Aurora begins to question her sanity. Is she becoming like Alicia, Jonathanā€™s late wife? Is mental instability a genetic condition passed through their mothers line? Things just arenā€™t adding up. Her job is to put all these puzzle pieces together before she becomes another victim.

I couldnā€™t put this book down. Itā€™s so interesting finally getting the full story of Alicia, her background/death/mental struggles, and Jonathan and Ethanā€™s history.

ā‹† āŽ ā˜…Ā° ā€ āž· 3 steamy
ā€œThereā€™s a pre-Jonathan era and post-Jonathan era, and I donā€™t want to admit how fulfilling the second one is.ā€

In this book we follow Jonathan King and Aurora Harper, and how they navigate a ā€relationshipā€, but also the aftermath of Auroraā€™s father coming back into the picture. I really liked Harris in this book, I find him so funny, and I would have liked more scenes with Aurora and Harris together. I also loved how Aurora helped Jonathanā€™s relationship with Aiden, Levi and Ethan - or at least work on them. What I missed in this book was communication, and while both the characters explained why they liked each other so much, Iā€™m not sure how much I believed in it. It felt so much like an infatuation, more from Auroras than Jonathan. Jonathan explained the difference between Aurora and Alicia, why he really felt that Aurora was a good match for him. But I donā€™t know, it felt that Aurora just liked Jonathan because he helped her understand her worth and live with her fear. That is good, but for as strong as Aurora is, I donā€™t think it was showed as much in this book.

Tropes:
 • Age gap (17)
 • Wifeā€™s little sister
 • Widow
 • Toxic relationship
 • Existing relationship
