A perfect summer read. Well-worth seeking out if you have a soft spot for so-called “wild swimming” or London in general

I'm always looking for books about place, and about what it is like to live in a specific place, what it smells like and feels like, and this book was that. It is very niche, of course, and was the perfect thing to read while eating mussels and drinking cider in a pub in Hampstead.

Enjoyable if you've ever swum in the ladies' pond (or want to be convinced you should!). Different essays, different backgrounds and styles.

Several short stories by women writers, all intertwined directly with the physical presence of the pond and interacting with its premises. Most of the essays were a joy to read. A soothing and near meditative experience.
