Laugh out loud funny the whole way through

When I started reading, I was laughing so hard I was crying every few pages. I would read a paragraph to my boyfriend and he would laugh and this happened so many times over and over again that I realized if I didn’t stop reading the book out loud, I might as well just record an audiobook of me reading these chapters that I didn’t actually write, because I was already putting in the effort.

Irby’s voice is fresh, unfailing, honest, and candidly reassuring. I don’t think it’s uncommon for people who write to start noticing that their writing sounds like the books they’ve been reading, and if that’s the case, I should read only her books forever so that I get the voice I’m looking for.

While the book was a touch slow in the last third, she brought it all back together nicely with the last couple of chapters. I am definitely excited to read her other books and look forward to following her writing wherever I can find it.

All hail the reigning queen of comedy, the empress of self-deprecating humor, the monarch of witty and sarcastic assessments of people's everyday behavior. There is no other title that could as fully represent this book, and I loved every ridiculous moment of hearing Irby read it aloud.

Also, if the person who has written and published not one, not two, but three books please stop talking about how not accomplished she is, that would be great...

Audiobook. Hilarious, particularly if you’re a woman between 35-45. Not that you won’t get it if you’re younger or older, just that a lot of the references and musings might hit a little closer to home if you are.

This book made me laugh out loud and actively cringe on behalf of the author.
Samantha Irby is way too real sometimes…

Recently read 3 other Samantha Irby essay collections, so some of the essays were repetitive. Overall very good though
