I decided to read some Flaubert in French. This is probably his best known short story and I kind of adored it. Perhaps the Frenchism helped. Lots of love for old women stories and old women stories where she falls in love with a parrot which is also God is tip-top. Many amusing moments to be had love good one Gustave

I find it hard to "rate" this, as a "classic", but it didn't do much for me, personally.
