Read for school. 2.5 stars.
It was interesting, but I didn't care for it. Maybe if I had known beforehand that it was just the story of the main character's life and didn't have any actual plot (like, AT ALL), I wouldn't be sitting here wondering, Okay, but what was the point???
I feel bad for Felicite.

A good Flaubert but not the best, in my opinion; it follows the life of a woman with a string of misfortunes: first, she lives an unhappy childhood, then finds a job with a widow and her two children she focuses on, but they quickly leave the house, then it's his nephew's turn to die and so on.
Of course, what is to salute is the author's pen: the descriptions are realistic and the writing magnificent.
It's a tale that reads quickly and makes you want to rediscover Flaubert.

This simple short story focuses on the life of a maid, Felicite. A life of hard work, bad luck in love, loss and religion. It’s gently humorous but not unsympathetic to her despite the other characters lack of interest.
