Just when I think the Black Dagger Brotherhood is on its way out, J.R. Ward breathes new life into it. I’m trash for this series and I always will be.

I struggled with the insta-lust and  the main character, Nyx. Nyx is supposed to go save her sister who was thrown in jail 50 years ago, and even though she is supposed to be the eldest sister and have a Plan. Seems to have absolutely no idea or plan when she gets to the jail. Almost gets killed multiple times and just can't follow directions? And can't seem to make even small, thoughtful choices in the four hours into the prison i had read. I'm surprised she hadn't already died in horrible ways yet, and while she says very feminist things, she doesn't seem to have any common sense. Couldn't handle that, and the very flattened main characters in general. I wanted to learn more about Rhage, because he had like more character depth. All of the characters were referred to as either 'females' or 'males' which felt really awkward.
