3.5. Definitely not my favorite in the series but they can't all be hits can they?

I think my problem was that I never quite connected with any of the characters. I mean I liked them and all, but for some reason they weren't as memorable. Perhaps even more disappointing was my lack of enthusiasm for the side plot. Usually the side story is just as great as our main couple but it all fell so flat compared to the other books in the series. I guess the curve was set really high, therefore a so-so SEP book is still top notch quality.

I started this book to get into the Chicago Stars mindset for SEP new one coming out in August and I was hesitant when I started. Her overall themes are pretty predictable; man and woman are thrown together and they don't like each other, they have sex somewhere in the middle and it gets complicated, then they realize they love each other. So I started off slow but I always forget how much I enjoy SEP style of writing. Her plot may be predictable but her writing style is romantic, sweet and funny and hooked me in right away. I got a good chunk done at a Starbucks before work and was dying to keep going my whole shift. I loved Annabelle and Heath together and thought their lives were really realistic. I wish they would have explored Annabelle's family more because to me it just seemed like they hated each other but the ending made it sound like they were actually really connected. I really like how they brought it all together in the end. Sometimes romantic books are tied up quickly and with a flimsy gesture or premise, but this felt solid and earned.

Two competing matchmaker firms go after the business of one multi-millionaire sports agent. Ins and outs of the insecurities, the chase of something real in a fake world, friendships in unlikely places and perhaps a cliched "happily ever after" ending.

Super fun and cute. I’m on the fence if I should keep this to reread at a later date when in need of a good book or if I should donate it so others can enjoy it... little things bothered me, but overall it was great.

Susan Elizabeth Phillips knows how to make characters and she does it beautifully in this novel. You learn that opposites truly do attract.

I really need to stop expecting any romance novel to be realistic, or maybe my idea of realism is skewed. Anyway, this one was classic SEP: successful hottie alpha male, sassy but struggling what's-not-to-like female, and witty repartee for miles. Oh, and mostly hilarious. This one even threw in a love story on the side.

Happy endings all around, and babies, too, naturally. I could've done without so much Portia but whatever. One of the better is this series, even though they all follow a very similar pattern.

This was a very funny book and I found myself laughing out loud multiple times. It was a tad girly and didn't take many brain cells to read, but if you've read most of my other reviews, then you'll know that I fall back on one of these every few months. Very CUTE.

The leading female, Annabelle Granger has inherited her grandmother’s matchmaking business that mostly now caters to low income, seniors. Annabelle is ready to bring it into todays day and age and her first order of business is to book a drop dead gorgeous Sports Agent, Heath Champion. Heath is determined to be married by 35 and the ideal woman for him basically doesn't exist.

Fast forward 2 months, and Annabelle has not only hired him as her most profitable client, but her business is booming, and the 2 have actually developed a sort of love/hate friendship.

There are many different characters involved that help to move the story along, but of course my favorite twosome is Annabelle and Heath. Gave it 5 stars for a cute, but mature plot... sort of hard to come by these days.
