I loved this so much, I just wish this was a longer story because I want to read so much more of these characters. I want more of the world, more of Tilda, more of the fathers/uncles. It is such an interesting world and the snippets of magic and demons you get in this is really unique. I was immediately invested in this and adored the characters from their very first actions. My favourite trope is when there is big bad things but actually they're soft. Not so much Rhysand but more like Slewfoot and this was perfect for that!

Highly recommend!

Excellent horror novella. Ford and Neuland hunt (and kill) the living and the (un)dead. When an assignment goes bad they head west until the dust settles. Along the way the encounter Tilda, a nice girl with a very strange proposition: kill the pale house devil. This little story rockets along to a tidy ending. Not overly scary but some weird and spooky parts. My only gripe is that it's a novella. I wanted lots more. Hopefully this is only the first book with these characters. I was given a copy and this is my own opinion-three stars and a perfect October read.

This was a fun novella! Felt like one of the early episodes of Supernatural that were a one and done monster hunt. Or like, John Constantine vibes. Audio was performed with a great noir vibe, but it also kinda made it hard to place the time setting as contemporary, if that makes sense.

Our two MMC Ford and Neuland had an easy camaraderie and banter. They are a been-around-the-block private detective human/undead duo, and Tilda who finds them for this job fell right in step with them. I loved the glimpses we got from the creature’s POV, thinking about their yummy snacks. Disgusting. Love it lol. Ending was satisfying, I’d love to see another novella with this paranormal monster hunting team.
