A tragic, moving (but very short), well drawn graphic novel about a small Syrian girl's attempt to escape the conflict in her country and find safety in Europe. Beautiful, impactful, but sad story.

Read if you need something to absorb and think about.

The limited pallet of colours and sharp shadowing gives strength to the drawings in this heartbreaking story of courage in the face of insurmountable odds.
There is no happy ending in this book, reminding the reader that there are many brave people in the world facing terrible circumstances and that we are merely the lucky ones.

One of the saddest, and most hopeless books I've read in awhile. Beautifully crafted in both pictures and story, but devastating.

No backmatter or context.

Incredibly sad but real story about a girl forced to leave Syria by boat. Would be good to pair with Escape from Aleppo, Other Words for Home and Refugee.

🧠 My thoughts
A very beautiful but tragic story concise in only a few pages. The storytelling through the nice artwork made me speechless.

πŸ‘ What I like
  • Fantastic storytelling skill
  • Nice artwork

πŸ‘Ž What I don't like
  • It’s too short to have anything to complain about
