The dynamic between the two main characters was kind of odd. I didn't like how he was just toying with her at first and how he grew to feel entitled to her affections and intimacy after he gave her a certain amount of attention. The scene at the end where she exposes

her rapist

and he backs her up was the highlight of the book.

It was interesting, but very slow paced. I wasn't expecting it to go as slow as it did, and had a larger focus on rape that I expected. The sudden changes that her alcoholic partner made was huge but also unrealistic.
