Almost dnf’d a couple times. Clunky writing and the author was really trying too hard. Good mystery which is why I stuck it out.

This book kept my attention and sucked me in every time I sat down to read it. I honestly don’t know if I loved or hated the ending. It somehow ties up everything nicely and leaves a ton of loose ends. I’m obsessed.
Graphic: Sexual assault and Suicide
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Alcohol, and Classism
Minor: Drug abuse and Pregnancy

I enjoyed the mystery and who-dun-it aspect of the book. There were enough clues to where you could solve the who, but the why was still a bit of a surprise at the end. I appreciated the inclusion of a larger mystery surrounding the original murder. Definitely looking forward to reading the next book.
Moderate: Drug use, Sexual assault, and Murder
Minor: Vomit

This book was such an amazing Aardvark impulse choice. I’m definitely starting my 2024 reading off on a high note. Part wickedly funny satire, part mystery, and part examination of class and race with a subtle undercurrent of dark academia, this book had me hooked from the opening scenes (a debaucherous high brow birthday party in a McDonald’s play place - yes, really) and kept me chuckling throughout. I don’t know that the mystery itself is particularly fiendish or clever, but everything else in the plot makes up for that.
A quick Google tells me that this is the first in a series and I already can’t wait for the second one.
Moderate: Sexual assault and Sexual violence

Murder mystery isn't normally my preference in reading but I found this to be entertaining & spurred me on to keep finding out who the murdered was. Everything came together really well & I wasnt able to guess who the murderer was which was great.
