Great metaphors and similes and an interesting depiction of a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage and struggling with societal expectations about how to behave as a woman, who is a successful writer, but also a mother.
I got really into it, after I got used to the writing, but then it lost me after Lise got institutionalised and the hallucinations took over the narrative.
I also found some of it incredibly ableist.

This book is so cleverly written. The plot is slow paced, yes, but you will find yourself on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. This book’s plot doesn’t just happen or unfold, but it evolves throughout the book like it has its own mind. The descriptions and metaphors are unusual and provocative.
