this book threw me down a hill.

there are two time periods, the past and the present. the past is captivating. River is a mystery. she has a sharp bite but is so sheltered by a mother who isn’t around. these two characterization pieces conflict…mom wants one thing for River that she has never expressed, add in the fact that mom isn’t a part of her daughter’s life and things get messy. THEN throw in mom’s boyfriend who is the hot dad of her boyfriend from the past…wow where is this all coming from?

the big omgs:
it’s so hot and spicy for two teens. like omg no fucking way. most the the smutty bits is a little cringe though. what 15 year old boy is thinking about her being pregnant and happy about being a dad??

then, the huge plot twist 80% through the damn book. like where the hell did that come from? i was not expecting it at all.

Wow, this was a horrible book. I made a new years resolution that I would step-giving upon books within the first Just be 150 pages cause I didn't like the writing. This book was the worst to start out with. The author clearly didn’t edit before publishing because she would start out with one scene then suddenly people would teleport or change to the complete opposite. Also weirdly obsessed with the rain, the MC was in love with her future step brother while also describing  how hot her step dad was. The whole book is about a miscommunication trope but you don’t learn about that until 200 pages into 269. Save yourself and don’t read it.

It’s such a cute book but with a very heavy topic in it as well. I love Tate, he’s such a kind and sweet soul and he truly does love River. Same goes for River she truly does love Tate but she was just misled by other circumstances for too long.

I read it in 2 hours! Good read if you are in a slump!
