It was nice to some long running questions resolved but I think I am getting tired of Amelia and crew. - Just a little too convinced of there own superiority and blind to their our faults.

I love reading about Amelia and her diverse adult family and entourage. I will be sharing time with Amelia for the rest of my life.
RIP, Elizabeth Peters.

I thought I'd given up on this series when I couldn't finish book 11 - that book just didn't work for me. But, I missed the Emerson clan. The series has gotten a bit silly, but the fun parts are worth it. The earlier books are better, and much better introductions to the series. Ms. Rosenblatt's narration was, as always, excellent.

This is the book that made me fall in love with Ramses. My copy is so dog earred that it's he'd together with duct tape. One of my top 10 favorite books of all time.

Book number twelve in the Amelia Peabody series. The Emerson's attempt to carry on as usual, but it's difficult. WWI is in full swing and there is fear that the Turks will attack the Suez Canal. The British government is rounding up all Egyptians involved in the independence movement, including David. Ramses is being ostracized for his apparent pacifism, but with Ramses nothing is ever what it seems. Nefret seems to be growing close to the disgusting Percy, and Amelia and Emerson must again face off against the Master Criminal. A wonderful addition to this fun series. A must read for all Amelia fans.

I will admit as the characters age and their children become more a part of the story I enjoy these books even more. Egypt is on the brink of war in 1914/15 and Ramses is to all appearances a conscientious objector, but really he is in the Great Game for British Intelligence. Emerson is trying his damnedest to do a dig, but the war and Peabody's meddling in other affairs keep getting in the way. And the Master Criminal shows up! This one was quite a bit of fun.
