Edge of Dusk is an engaging and suspenseful story in the New Annie Pederson series by Colleen Coble. It was great to be back in Rock Harbor and to read about the characters from the other series! The plot has many layers with a few different mysteries and a few twists and turns. Annie's character is likeable and determined but she isn't perfect. She still blames herself for her sister's kidnapping and Jon leaving her left scars. There are plenty of lies, secrets, mysteries, and action to keep any reader turning the pages! It will be interesting to see where this series goes next! Thank you Partners in Crime Tours and Colleen Coble for sharing this book with me!

I called it. I called it, I called it and I knew it. I knew every plot twist, I wanted to yell at the characters for NOT SEEING what was right in front of them!!
But I still liked it, mostly. She did a good job of keeping it suspenseful enough that I wanted to keep reading and wrapped it up well enough that I felt satisfied but also left somewhat of a cliffhanger so that you’d want to read the second book. And I do.
Oh, and I also loved the setting in the U.P. Of course

I was surprised how much I loved this author! I am typically not a fan of a cozy mystery ( what I thought it was) but was taken in by the story immediately.  A combination of mystery/thriller with a romance thrown in, this book kept me reading and anxious for the next one in the series.  For those that want a “clean” read this book had no smut or bad language and still felt realistic.  I was invested in each character, even the ones I didn’t like.

If Annie Pederson could talk to us, she’d tell us that The Windigo, the looming 15ft tall monster of Ojibwa legends who ate humans, was the least of her worries.

Colleen Coble knows how to keep readers engaged! Her books have an amazing pace, keeping readers committed. It felt as though I was on a roller coaster. I loved the thrill of not knowing what was coming next, loved the spinning and twisting, the plummeting drops and dark tunnels, the loops and yes, at times I felt like I was hanging upside down! As I willed the roller coaster to slow down so that the protagonist could get a chance to escape her life, Coble changed the direction. As I took a deep breath, thinking I was on a stretch of even track, Coble changed speed. I twisted, turned and raced from one page to the next and was exhausted by the end. I honestly couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!

I read this deliciously good book in one sitting and consider myself addicted to the series! I can’t wait for book 2, Dark of Night, to be released on January 10, 2023.

You’ll have to read this suspense-filled inspirational to find out how it links to Gordon Lightfoot’s lyrics, “Superior never gives up her dead.”

I was gifted this advance copy by Colleen Coble, Thomas Nelson, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Another fun return to Rock Harbor from Coble. Fans will recognize old friends among the new mysteries. I found the ending of this book a bit abrupt with big reveals and no time for the characters to respond or process them--this might be one to wait to read until you have the whole series at hand.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

I was gripped by this - gripped, I tell you. But then we entered the last 85% of the story and all I could find myself asking was “what?!”, and not in a good way. It was such a strong start and then we jumped the buoy. The ending was so unsatisfying.
