It was fascinating in the beginning but I just lose my interest in the middle. Bcoz this book was a translation version, the sentence seemed to be choppy and sometimes it keep repeating the same thing. It was an interesting writing style; sometimes in a interview format, sometimes in a story format, sometimes it was written as Eva Maria's inner monologue in between sentences. It's a bit weird and it's kinda distracting for me. I might pick it up to finish it if I want to. But for now, nah.
The Case of Lisandra P. is yet another book hyped as "the next Gone Girl", so of course I had to read it.
Lisandra P. is dead and her psychoanalyst husband, Vittorio, has been arrested for her murder. One of his patients, Eva Maria, doesn't believe Vittorio could have killed her and sets out to help him prove his innocence. Her investigation takes the reader through fascinating taped sessions with Vittorio's patients and into the lives of people who knew Lisandra and who may have had motive to kill her. The taped sessions offer some of the novels best moments and show off Gremillon's ability to give each character a unique voice.
This book is more than just a murder mystery - it is also a history lesson on some of the darkest moments in Argentinian history. The stories told are heartbreaking and chilling and the book is worth reading for the Miguel section alone. I will definitely be seeking out more by this author.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Demonstrating how easily we can suspect others of wrong-doing, The Case of Lisandra P. by Helene Gremillon explores the death of Lisandra and those in her life, even tangentially, who could be guilty.

Imagine coming home to find your wife's broken body on the ground six floors from your apartment. That's the reality for psychologist Vittorio Puig. Coming home one night after a mild fight with his wife Lisandra, Vittorio finds his wife's dead, broken body on the ground. Reporting the incident to the police leads to his arrest for her murder. Protesting that he's innocent, one of Vittorio's patients, Eva Maria, investigates the situation on her own, but her drinking problem proves to be a problem in the authorities believing her in the hunt to find out who killed Lisandra.
The writing at the end seemed to try too hard to fit everything together and tie up all the lose ends for the reader, despite the majority of the text relying upon psychological ambiguity and questioning what happened--it felt incredibly disjointed. The narrative did offer twists and set up various characters to take the fall for Lisandra's death, which makes it a shame that the ending was so cookie-cutter. I enjoyed the varied format of the narrative, including stream-of-consciousness, standard narrative, and the inclusion of sheet music to elaborate upon the feeling of the tale.
Overall, I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5 stars.

The ending genuinely ruins the entire book. I kept feeling like maybe I missed something but after reading the reviews I don’t think I’m alone. The last 40 pages feel like a mad lib gone wrong. A disappointing end to what could have been an interesting book

Unexpected political psychodrama. Really well done.
I really enjoyed the unique writing style of this story. Hysterical ramblings, run-on memories, deceit actions, and stuck persons.
Je l'ai lu après Le confident et celui-ci m'a beaucoup moins accrochée. Le style de l'auteure est toujours aussi intéressant, mais l'histoire en elle-même est moyennement bien, selon moi... Un peu décevant.
