I haven’t read the previous 2 books in this series, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not reading the other books.
I have to admit I was a little disappointed with ‘Shattered Vows’. I thought from the blurb that there would be more angst from the characters, more indecision or conflict from them having to try and reconcile their feelings for each other with the death of Carter. But the feelings between Molly and Jake were kind of just accepted and that was it.
The suspense part of the book was a little unbelievable. I thought the villain was comical. He came across like a villain from a bad ‘B’ grade movie.
I found ‘Shattered Vows’ to be just an ok read. I thought it was good, but not great.
** I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. ARC provided by NetGalley**

Molly is pregnant with her dead estranged husband's baby. Jase, her ex-husband's former best friend, has always loved Molly. But Molly is afraid to take a chance on Jase once she realizes he's always had feelings for her. She's afraid of what people will think, and that she will lose him. Stupid reasoning, IMO, and I had trouble liking the character because of that.

Molly's ex-husband left her with a big problem that now threatens her life. Jase would literally die to keep her safe.

Been anxiously waiting for this book since I finished Buried Lies. This series really shouldn't be read as stand alone, the characters intertwine, and the story continues into the next book.

This book tore me up, I was all sorts of a snotty mess. But the feels balanced out for me. The sadness of the PTSD and brain injury in our military is just shocking. Kaylea really made it understandable.

You must read this series! So WONDERFUL!!

SHATTERED VOWS frustrated me in all the best ways because I wanted the character to be together and be happy but the world just kept throwing obstacles in their way. From the very beginning of this series, we've followed Molly's tragic journey as she and her husband dealt with his traumatic brain injury and increasingly erratic behavior. With divorce papers on the table, Molly suddenly finds herself a widow and it's her friends that she leans on for support. I really admired Molly's strength to get through everything thrown at her; she handles it all with grace, dignity, and grit. I wasn't sure how the issue of guilt would play into the story but I thought that Kaylea Cross handled Molly's emotions and concerns really well. I also loved the deep friendship Molly has with Sierra and Poppy and how much we saw how important that friendship was.

Watching Jase deal with his long held feelings for Molly was so heartbreaking because you could tell how much he cared for her and how much he was willing to sacrifice for Molly. We so often see books with the heroine pining for the hero so I liked that SHATTERED VOWS was the opposite. I loved Jase's steadfast and dependable personality and the way he's always looking out for Molly. He makes her feel safe and I think it just took time for Molly to see how much he cared for her beyond friendship.

I do wish that Molly and Jase could have figured things out faster because once they get together they have such amazing chemistry. Jase's playful and charming way was exactly what Molly needed to move forward with her life. This wonderful and emotional romance blended perfectly with the suspenseful side story and I can't wait for more in this series.

Molly and Jase's story was frustrating. First having to deal with the years of unrequited love. Next having Molly use Jase over the years. Every time something went wrong with Carter, she seemed to call on Jase. Then after Carter died, all of her wishy washy behavior along with Jase feeling unworthy.

I was looking forward to Jase and Molly finally getting together. This book managed to hit almost every point that irks me in romance. Why Molly thought she could ignore Carter's problems was beyond me. Why she didn't feel the need to immediately let at least one of these military men know about Rafe was beyond me. After all these protections were put in place, why she would think it was ok to do what she did at the hospital was beyond me.

It was all too much. This book was ok, but not my favorite of the series.

I was really looking forward to Shattered Vows purely because Jase and Molly got to take centre stage, and it didn't disappoint with a story that was much more emotional, but no less enjoyable to read. And frankly, I found it genuinely hard to put down.

And with such a genuine and likable hero and a resilient heroine, not to mention a touch of suspense it truly was a great read, and one I would happily recommend to others.

I've been anticipating Molly and Jase's book ever since Book 1 and Kaylea hinted about them. Sad about what happened to Molly's ex-husband and Jase's former best friend but eh. I love the angst, wouldn't mind more of it, but so glad that Molly finally took a chance on her feelings for Jase because boy had been holding a torch for her FOREVER.

Mac and Tiana's book next! I adore them already.

FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH INKSLINGER PR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! UNFORTUNATELY, THIS REVIEW WILL ALSO CONTAIN MILD SPOILERS...THIS IS THE ONLY WARNING YOU WILL SEE ABOUT THEM!

I've been journeying along with the Crimson Point series for a while now, but this was the one story I was really looking forward to for a while now! However, I find myself somewhat disappointed with it.

We knew from the previous book that Molly had a less than ideal situation happening with her soon to be ex-husband, one that wasn't entirely his fault. Then, there's a monkey wrench thrown into that same situation, and suddenly he's died right on the eve of his divorce. That should have paved everything for the new romance with Jase, but it didn't. Molly was too worried about Jase having a hidden TBI syndrome, like her husband Carter had, that she kept pushing Jase away. Add in the suspense angle with the loan sharks, and it made for this awkward push pull that didn't really resolve until the very end of the book. I also didn't like that Molly never saw a therapist about the abuse that Carter had heaped on her or the fact that she never really mourned Carter's death before jumping into things with Jase. She claimed that she'd done her mourning a while ago, but I think she was really mourning the death of her marriage, not Carter himself. It was a convenient way to not discuss those issues.

I also really hated that Carter was hanging all over the start of the relationship with Molly and Jase. Molly being pregnant with Carter's baby was the start of it, but his hateful words to Jase about how he had Molly even though Jase loved her on replay all the time didn't help matters any. Then this mysterious loan with the loan shark plot line comes along. It felt a little convenient, and just one more way to keep Carter's memory alive and well in the story.

If I ignored all those issues with the story, I was actually well entertained and could actually enjoy the story at times. I just feel that this story is going to be the weakest of the series.

Molly Boyd is struggling to deal with her world falling apart and her unexpected pregnancy. On top of that, she realizes she has feelings for her ex-husbands best friend, Jace. Jace Weaver has been in love with Molly since her first saw her, but she chooses his best friend instead. He has stood by for years watching her be happy with his best friend. Now he is stepping up to help her during these trying times. While dealing with all these new feelings and new life a new threat appears from her ex’s past.

From the beginning of this series we knew Molly and Carter would have a tragic end. Molly has struggled to deal with Carter’s traumatic brain injury and increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior throughout the series. Divorce papers are filed but Molly instead finds herself a widow, with a baby on the way. I loved Molly. She had to deal with so much but dealt with it with dignity, grace, and determination. I admired the heck out of her for how she dealt with everything.

Jace has had feelings for Molly for years and has hidden it from her. Seeing him deal with his feelings and trying to talk to her about them in the beginning was heartbreaking. He was always there for Molly, even when it looked like she didn’t have the same feelings for him. Jace was dependable, steadfast, and protective. It took a while but once Molly realized that she takes a chance with her heart. This was a beautiful blend of romance and suspense. I can’t wait to see what will happen next in the series.

SHATTERED VOWS is book three in the Crimson Point series. It's a standalone so feel free to jump in here if you haven't read the first few books!

Molly Boyd was in the middle of a divorce from her husband, Carter, when he died suddenly. Now, she's a pregnant widow in the small town of Crimson Point. But she has good friends and she also has Jase Weaver, Carter's best friend. Jase has been quietly in love with Molly for years, even before her and Carter got married. But he stood by his best friend and now he'll stand by Molly as she navigates motherhood. But when a threat from Carter's past puts Molly in danger, Jase will do whatever he needs to protect her.

There's a suspenseful element that spices up the plot but more than that, this is a really sweet love story. I actually haven't read the first two books (hangs head in shame) so if Molly, Jase and Carter were mentioned before, I'm not sure. All I know is in this book, I loved Jase and Molly together regardless of whether or not it would be considered "forbidden" to be in a relationship with your best friend's ex-wife. Molly was great, she was smart and tough, she was loyal and sassy. But for me, Jase made the whole book. Oh, Jase! I may have she'd a few tears for him and his unrequited feelings for Molly. He was a super sweet teddy bear wrapped in a hot guy's body! Jase truly did everything he could to take care of Molly and her baby...SWOON!

Overall, this one was a slow burn romance between a hot ex soldier and a strong, single pregnant widow. Expect a sweet, sexy story with just enough tension to keep you on the edge. Told from various POVs with a delightfully happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
