Interesting to read as you can really see the influence it had on Tolkein and later fantasy writers. it was an enjoyable story on its own though.

My third-grade teacher started reading us this before the rest of the class fussed and she moved on to "My Side of the Mountain," but a few years later I found something in the library that felt oddly known and numinous. I still feel that when I read this, so I love it.
