Ever since I was a kid, I've always been fascinated with windows lit up in the night. Driving through familiar or unfamiliar neighborhoods, to catch a small glimpse into someone's house is to catch a fleeting moment of story waiting to be told. Windows honors those fleeting stories by making us ponder them for just a few seconds longer.

"Others are empty & leave you to fill them up with stories."
I do this sometimes if I'm in an area that I don't know or see an interesting building if I'm further in the city. The illustrations are lovely! The night time helps bring out all the fun, curious, & mysterious things going on in town. And through the different shaped windows. :)

Sweet story about a boy taking a walk with his dog and noticing what his neighbors are up to through their open windows. Okay, actually that sounds a little creepy, but this book is actually a really cute story about appreciating community and family. The dog is the cutest book dog ever.

I really have enjoyed Denos's book, and after reading Swatch, couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. This was even better. I'd probably but this up there as a "every library should have it" title, it's that good.

the middle house on the front cover looks like a place I'd love--a sewing room, a plant room, and two large kitties in the front.

A nice story, but looking into other people's windows bothered me. It can be really interesting-- or pretty nosy. It reminded me of being in a boat on a nearby lake and noticing how much more you can see into homes at night. I did like some of the references; for instance, the page that compared the lit up homes to paper lanterns really did look like lanterns!
