Take a man who should know better, throw in a completely irresistable temptation, stir with family, and you get Damaged. No surprises here.

This book was definitely...compelling...but it was also one of those where I wasn't sure if I liked it or not when finished... I'm weighing in on the *not* side but it's worth mentioning that was not an immediate decision.

This is one of those backs where I think you are suppose to dislike the two main characters. I mean, honestly, look at the title. It is powerful because it deals with different types of damage - in people and by people.

The writing was very gripping and kept the reader's attention. But I'm not sure if I would re-read it.

For a book praised for its psychological depth and darkness, there was really very little here. Two people with NPD have an affair and think their narcissism makes them exceptional. Their kinky affair is so quaintly 'Victoria's Secret' I felt rather sorry for them. Blindfolds! Rope! How saucy! I was truly embarrassed for them when they wouldn't have sex because she was menstruating, as if that was too taboo. The psychological portraits are sketched in crayon and the prose is often embarrassing. It is, however, a quick and energetic read.

I can’t even begin to explain how this book made me feel. It was boring, weird, awkward, dark, confusing, sad, and just unimaginably messed up. I don’t recommend this book to anyone who isn’t ready to have their brain and heart shattered. The writing style is weird but pretty. I’m not sure what else to say about this one…

This book quite honestly ripped my heart to pieces. The dialogue between characters seemed distant, without much feeling, however the book was still able to leave me feeling such raw emotions. 4.5 stars.
