**I just reread this and damn I read some dark books back in 2016. Alexie should have done more groveling. 2021 me doesn't think it was enough. Still 5 stars.
So if you don't know this already, let me tell you. I love a broken hero., almost as much as an anti hero, and I got the best of both worlds in Ghost.

I can't even put into words how much I freaking loved this book.
I felt pain, I almost cried. almost
I don't cry, There have been few books that have caused me to tear up. I must be a masochist, and Zavarelli is the sadist because I loved it.
I know I know you get it, I loved the book. While the first part is sad, I was worried that Talia wouldn't pull through. Now don't get me wrong, it's understandable. On that note, there may be triggers for some.
This book has just the right amount of angst, It wasn't overwhelming. It was just enough to pull at my heart strings, but not too much where I'm rolling my eyes.
When the heroine/or hero as already been through so much, we as the reader want to see them happy. We want to see things go right for them. Ghost had a perfect balance.
Now don't get me wrong Alexei does become an ass, and while some would ask if he's redeemable. His groveling level was low, but I think what he went through may have been enough.
I don't know really know what else to say, but I know I look forward to Zavarelli books, I love her writing style.

“I want you to know the level of my devotion to you,” he states. “I don’t ever want you to question it. The things I have and will continue to do to protect you. To avenge you. They are dark things. But that darkness is my burden to carry, and it always will be.”
I don't know really know what else to say, but I know I look forward to Zavarelli books, I love her writing style.

Not wasting anymore time w this. I’m bored out my mind. The plot is ok, but the writing, pace and characters are purely awful. So peace✌🏽but I’m out.

3.5 stars.
I liked this book but I felt that the ending was a little rushed. The cirst 75% of yhe book i cpuls t put it down and found myself staying up late to find piy wjat happens. I think this book could have been 50 more pages to draw out the betrayal, feeling and forgiveness. Instead I felt it just ended with a clean little bow no questions asked. There are a lot of unanswered questions and the timeline was rushed.
Overall I like the series and will keep reading it.

For such a dark consept, it was surprisingly not that dark. Really helped that it was not too detailed.

"Time does not matter. Time does not even exist in this place. Or in my heart. Only the light in the distance."
Wow. What an awesome book. I have been waiting for this book for quite a long time and I was so excited when I got it that I wanted to shout to the heavens. What so amazing that after I finished Ghost, I was lost for words. At first, I could not even find my words on how to describe my feeling and then within a few minutes, I was struck with so much excitement because Ghost was so phenomenal. A. Zavarelli wrote an amazing book that is just the cream of the crop. Ghost was simply perfection and I loved it so much.
Ghost is about the story of Alexei and Talia and what a story. Damnn, I was simply captivated by this book. I was in awe. Ghost was beautiful and purely focused on the emotion and angst of Alexei and Talia. It was so much different than Crow and Reaper which I totally gravitated towards because the writing was just so damn good. Ghost was pure artistry and clearly showed the brilliant talent of A. Zavarelli. Ghost was darker than the previous two books in the series which gave so much dynamic to the story and truly mesmerized me. It was the right dose of darkness, the right dose of grittiness and the right dose of suspense that made my heart quicken and my eyes glued to the book. Not only that it had suspense and action that was spellbinding but the emotion and the angst just spoke to me. For a mafia book, it is pretty rare to have this magnitude of emotions and angst but that's what was so special about Ghost. It was a story like no other and that made me so happy. Ghost was an original story that spoke so many volumes and that's the beauty of it. Ghost made me feel all kind of emotions. Ghost made me happy, sad, cry, laugh, swoon, cry some more and amazed. A whole bunch of emotions and I loved every moment. I was a mess and that is the magical thing when a book makes you feel, it is simply becomes memorable. And Ghost was memorable. It shows that A. Zavarelli knows how to weave a story that enters into your system and stays there forever. That is why her books are fantastic. She gives you a story that makes you want to get up on your seat and rejoice. She is that good. I might be fangirling a bit lol. Her writing is simply addictive and just perfection.
"She is skin and bones. A tangled mess of blonde hair and a gaunt, lifeless face. Those empty gray eyes were a painful reminder of someone else."
Talia was a heroine that made me truly emotional in the series. Her story broke my heart. I felt for her and her journey throughout in the book was simply awe inspiring. She was so weak but there was a certain strength in her that made her such a likable character. I could totally relate to her and her struggles. But there are times I wanted to shake to her senses a bit lol. I loved that she shyowed that she was a bit badass but her vulnerable side called out to me more because her thoughts and feelings were just spoke to me.
"He’s broad shouldered and powerful. The type of man with a presence that can’t be ignored. Athletic and toned. A fighter, I think… maybe."
Alexei is one of those rare heroes that are simply powerful, possessive and dangerous but yet have a vulnerable side that calls out to her. I loved it because Alexei was so much different from Lachlan from Crow and Ronan from Reaper and I found myself gravitating towards him and wanting to know his story more and more. I loved his dominating side. He did start out a bit cruel but he came through when he showed his protectiveness towards Talia and that made me swoon. I just fell in love with him.
Both Alexei and Talia were completely a dynamic couple. I loved that they found each other in the dark and made me simply happy. They had cosmic energy that was just addictive and mesmerizing. A. Zavarelli really outdid herself with these two characters.
Overall, Ghost was amazing. There are not enough words that can do justice. All you have to do is buy Ghost because it is one of those books that will live in your heart and truly impact you. Ghost has become one of my favourite books of the year and the crème de ls crème of mafia romance.
