Sick, insane, disturbing, but wonderful!

IMO this second volume is way better than the first one, it is even more disturbing (the third is awesome too, but vol. 2 is the best of them all).
It opens with Jack in the Box. A boy jammed in the car wheel? How sick it is! Next, The Snail, I loved that story. But The Mosquitoes and The Umbilical Cord which pretty much go together are my favorite ones. Gross, morbid, horrifying.
You all have to read this!

Do not read this at night!
It's even more disturbing than the first book, with the weirdness escalating exponentially from chapter to chapter. It's insane and rather appropriately horrifying.
The art is spectacular. Dark and overly detailed at times, it really elevates the level of surrealism that makes it such an intense read.

I love Ito - so creepy yet so great. His stories are also well paced, and the build up works perfectly to have you hanging on the edge of your seat to see what repulsive thing awaits on the next page. Can't wait to finsh Uzumaki and read more of his work! 4.5/5 stars.

The second installment of the highly bizarre spiral. It's gruesome and twister - certainly not for the feint hearted; but it is well written and illustrated manga horror, and I will have to get around to reading the third part. In a little Japanese town the spiral appears everywhere and residents experience strange, paranormal deaths - a boy turns into a zombie jack-in-the-box, people turn into giant snails, pregnant women drink blood, babies are returned to the womb, a terrible storm chases Kirie, our heroine, through town.... all very strange but still with no inkling as to what on earth is going on.
