Let the record show that this is not a friends to lovers romance! Though the cover and the title might lead you to think otherwise, it is certainly not.
Where to even begin?
This story follows Rose who moves in with her best friend Tyler after her boyfriend dumps her leaving her with no place to live. Tensions between them grow higher as Rose has always had a crush on him and with them living in such close quarters will the two finally give into their attraction to one another?
Sounds like a friends to lovers romance right? Well you would be wrong but that’s what the title and synopsis will lead you to believe.
A more accurate synopsis would be: Rose is in a pretty messy predicament when she starts sleeping with her best friend Tyler who is currently in a relationship with another woman. That is until she meets the other woman’s brother and the two of them start dating.
Why that’s not what this book was presented as in the first place, I have no clue.
First of all, the characters are so one dimensional. I get that this book is very short but that’s not an excuse for the characters to have no personality.
Cheating is something in books that won’t hinder my enjoyment of a story. However, something that does hinder my enjoyment is when you villianize the girlfriend for being the girlfriend. Like is she really the villain here?
Tyler irked me. Like I can’t believe the audacity of this man. I never knew why we were ever supposed to sympathize with his character when he was the one causing all the problems. It made logical sense why Rose shouldn’t want to be with him but then she’d still sleep with him anyways.
This however doesn’t mean I found Ethan to be so much better. He definitely was a bit too alpha male for my liking. While he’s better than Tyler, I think Rose needs to raise her standards.
Speaking of “needs to raise her standards” let’s talk about Georgina. Like I’m sorry are you that desperate for a man to love you that your willing to let him walk all over you and cheat with whatever other woman he wants? Also just the fact that this story makes her out to be so desperate and all her fault that she ended up pregnant? Like “oh she lied about being on the pill so it’s all her fault” bull crap. Like buddy I don’t remember you wearing a condom either. He’s just as much at fault as she is.
The fact that Rose called this man loyal to Georgina because he never broke up with her may be one of the most mind boggling parts of this book. That’s the bare minimum.
This is my first one star of the year so I guess that shows I have taste and standards unlike the characters of this book.

This book is a nice light read but it also shows the consequences of actions that you choose in the moment and may regret later. The book is sort of cliche in the sense of two characters being best friends since they were little and one of them having a crush on the other one, but honestly I loved that about it and it allowed the characters to have a deeper connection with one another and have that background with each other and a friendship that could be changed forever if they go through with things that they possibly shouldn't have.
There was a lot of sleeping around and in parts some of the characters had barely any self respect for themselves, but I enjoyed the story line and I liked the character development throughout the book.
Overall, the book was rather enjoyable and I'm going to read the second one right away.

I was so hopeful for this one. It sounded so cute and I always love a good friends to lover story. This was not that. Rose, Tyler and Georgiana are all horrible. Rose does redeem herself a smidge at the end but not much. Tyler is just ridiculous and the fact that Rose even wants to still be "best" friends with him just doesn't make a lick of sense. I don't like cheaters so this was one of the main reasons I didn't like either of them. Ethan was one of really good things about this book. I don't plan to continue with the series.

I hate leaving bad reviews but I wasn't a fan of this book at all. The main characters were just awful people. I forced myself to finish but wish I hadn't bothered to be honest. The ending was just unbelievable, what best friend would give that advice?

I change my mind about my last statement , this author has some gold gems and they are amazing books … but this one , nope.
