This was a thought-provoking and inspiring read. Much more so than I initially expected. I was so proud of Wendy for taking a stand against dementia and figuring out ways to outsmart it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I listened to it on audible and the narration was good, but I did have to have it sped up. A great insight into the experience.

I chose to read this book to gain understanding and compassion towards those with Alzheimer’s, as my Grandma is living with it. I connected with so many of Wendy’s experiences, as I have seen my grandma struggle with similar situations. Wendy is able to articulate feelings and self-analyze as her disease progressed, something my grandma is not able to do. Wendy is such an optimist. She participated in research, spoke at conferences and was an advocate for people with dementia. She is raw and real about the challenges about living with dementia, but also can acknowledge the silver linings— like getting to experience good things/news/sensations multiple times, like it’s the first.
I did find the book a little repetitive and long. I gained a lot of insight and I’m impressed with all she has accomplished. Would give 3.5 stars.

Wendy Mitchell is a remarkable woman. I knew nothing about her until i stumbled across a leaflet at work for Birmingham Literature Festival. My grandfather died of Dementia when i was 8 years old. This book and the tireless work Wendy has done to highlight the disease is outstanding.
My only critique is that the book is a bit repetitive in terms of mentioning Dementia but then again i assume life for Wendy now is also repetitive so in a weird way i appreciated that as well!

Wonderful book about trading limitations for opportunities to adapt. The authors unrelenting determination to continue and grow in the face of dementia is nothing short of heroic.
