We had to read this book in ELA and I thought picking the first book in the series was a bad idea. Then some people wanted to read the next book in the series because they wanted to know what happened next. At first I thought it was a bad idea and thought against it. Then as we were reading the book I sorta liked it. There were many depressing moments and a lot of people died. I just hope that my teacher doesn't change her mind and decide to read the next book. I think I have seen enough depressing things, thank you very much.

I really love Afghan fiction! This book just made me think about what some have to go thru in life to simply survive! To think though this is a fiction book, it’s based on what many in Afghanistan have known as their reality, and most often without the “happy” ending which is still quite saddening.
An excellent read though....

I think everyone should read Parvana's Journey. It's such a moving story, I cried so hard. It's crazy, you never really think about how war is so hard on civilians, on children exceptionally, until you read stories like this. There needs to be more stories like this.

I like the ‘friendship’ that Parvana and Asif have.
