Not a bad story, but the characters weren't very engaging and didn't make me desperate to know what happened to them. No late nights because I just couldn't put the book down.

This is the first crime/thriller and fast-paced action book I’ve read and I really enjoyed it. It’s different and edgy, and you find yourself turning the pages as fast as possible as you follow one man’s fight for the truth to save his family. It’s gripping with complex characters, and visually immersive. Looking forward to reading another of his books soon. (Shoutout to my mom for recommending this!)

An interesting hook, that by itself made me want to read to the end, but annoying Americanisms (yellow police tape and cots for beds) in a book very clearly and quite accurately set in London and the Home counties. The characterisation of the main character was a bit iffy too - started out a bit useless, IT software salesman - in the space of two days after being significantly injured was punching and headbutting in several fights like a pro. The least said about his dallying wife the better...
Still I read it to the end, so it can't be all bad.
