I'd read this story once upon a time, or had it read to me, and loved it just as much in the re-read! It's a fun little story from a mongoose's perspective, and it really makes you feel like you're right there with him.

I typically have no use for Kipling, but Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is my favorite little dude. Anyone else remember the short animated movie?

Found originally in The Jungle Book this children’s story about how a mongoose defended a family and killed king cobras. I loved it.

Classic. Easy read-aloud, too. The 2- and 4-year old loved it, will read again.

Despite being written in 1894 this was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. I loved the Chuck Jones made animated special too. I wanted to read it again for the nostalgia and I still enjoyed it. Short but satisfying :).

Another beautiful tale by Kipling set in India. A brave, young mongoose whose not afraid of anything just very curious, finds himself adored by a human family and at war with a family of cobras.

Only a portion of the story

Unfortunately this version on Amazon Kindle for free is only a portion of the story. Kipling is rather controversial these days so keep that in mind when reading to the kids. It's amazing that Amazon requires this many words is a review for such little product.

I'd never read any Kipling before. This was an enjoyable 'toe in the water' - and I look forward to reading more. This would be a fun one to read aloud to kids - lots of opportunities for different voices.
