3.5 stars, again, although if I rated this on actual enjoyment versus content it would be like a 2.5

1) I want to kill Mia. By far, my least favorite narrator and main character of all time. (A heavy burden to bear after America Singer.)
2) This book (and probably the next book) are going to be a total "New Moon" in which I will be Bella in that horrible scene from the movie where they just spin around and around her in a chair as the months flick by.
3) This deals with miscommunication, my absolute least favorite trope (?? - is it a trope? idk, anyway) in all of YA and literature in general. JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER, OKAY. I PROMISE THAT HE PROBABLY DOESN'T HATE YOU, OKAY. god.
4) Michael, Mia's mom, and--I kind hate to say it but--Grandmere are the only sane people in this entire book. Everyone has their panties in a twist and just needs to calm the fuck down.
5) Can you tell I want to rip my eyeballs from my face?

*continues to read the ninth book because praise there are only two more books before she's an adult*

I do enjoy these books so giving them a lower score out of annoyance probably isn't fair but the characters do annoy me more now I am older.

Mia as a character has become less likeable as the books go on & the Moscovitze siblings are a constant up and down in my feelings.

This book in particular was better then the last installement atleast.
I do have decent hopes for the final book atleast.

Now we are finally hitting the “adult” part of young adult. Michael needs to move to Japan for a year because of his robotic arm design, and Mia will do whatever she can to get him to stay. But after everything she’s willing to do, he still wants to go…

There’s also the development of a love triangle - one that Mia hasn’t even seen coming.

Listen, I love this series, but this entire book was one big dumpster fire. I forgot how stressful this was to read.

I finished this reread in one sit because I needed some light drama.
Oh poor me, forgetting how heartwrenching the drama in this installment of The Princess Diaries is! I immediately started reading book 10 afterwards, so everything ends well after all.

Mia writes in a very easy to read style, I like the diary style from then to then very much. She is a bit fipsy, she often exaggerates and overthinks and overanalyses, which makes her very relatable to me.
Her struggles are real, in some way, and her solutions aren't. She needs to calm tf down and think before judging. It's nice to yell at someone sometimes.

What I really like about this series is Michael Moscowitz, the loveinterest. He's amazing in any way, just imagine the most perfect guy ever (with flaws!) and you got him. Although it's through Mia's eyes, and since she loves him to pieces, he's probably not that perfect after all. I like to imagine him being, though.
Michael Moscowitz is a keeper.
What I really hate about the series is John Paul Reynolds-Abernathy the Fourth. Even the name sounds horrible, such is his character. But judge for yourself. Judge him hard. I mean, fairly.

What I also loove about the series is that little girls who read it think they are reading some sort of modern fairytale, while also being confronted with die-hard feminism. Little girls are sort of converted into feminism by reading those seemingly conservative books, it's amazing.

The series is always worth a reread and I love revisiting the drama. I mean, I'm just human after all.

When reading this series in my childhood, I stopped at book 7 so this was brand new to me. I was surprised how sad the ending was! I was not expecting that to happen at all! Mia is such a relatable character. Yes, she makes some odd decisions. But didn't most people at 16? I wasn't a big fan of Michael at times in this one
Spoiler like when he was pressuring her into sex. Not cool if she's said she isn't ready...
I really can't wait to read on the rest of the series and see how it resolves.
