I'm not sure what I expected of this, but it's pretty much a set of poems detailing the life hallmarks and journey of a man as he explores the religion of Islam.
Splitting the Moon is a decent collection of poems, containing some real gems that I'd want to re-read. The thing is, it's both one-note and inconsistent, so reading through the entire thing feels tiresome.
There is something here for everyone in terms of poetry style and tone, but that also means it isn't everything for anyone.
3.5 stars.
