'Sherlock Sam and the Sinister Letters in Bras Basah' by A.J. Low and Adan Jimenez with art by Drewscape is the third adventure of the young Singapore detective.

Sherlock is approached about a student at an international school who has a father getting threatening letters. The father is an author of childrens books and whoever is sending them is trying to get him to stop the publication of his next book. Sherlock is on the case!

These are fun books, and this is the third one I've read. There is a nice glossary and fun things to learn about another culture along the way (like how elders are referred to as auntie and uncle). The illustrations are fun too.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Another thrilling Sherlock Sam adventure, this time with even more geeky references! Not quite as action-packed as the previous book, but still a lot of fun.

This is a silly, fun series of stories about a Singapore boy named Sherlock Sam, and his friends and relations. Each book, this is the third in the series, tackles one case, in this book, it is trying to find out who is sending threatening letters. Oh, and did I mention that Sherlock has a robot assistant called Watson, that he built himself? And Watson loves to point out what foods will make Sherlock fart?

This series is growing on me. I love finding out about things such as Black Carrot cake, which is neither Carrot, nor Cake. It is a warm dish, and made from dycon radishes. And finding out the literal translation of how people in Singapore refer to Western white people translates to mean "red haired". (Ang Moh). And realizing that Doctor Who is loved world wide.

The mystery is very simple, and adults can probably guess it right away. But along the way, we learn about four-square, and Mexican cooking, and stuff like that. In fact, in the back of the book, we learn how to cook some Mexican dishes, and how to play four-square.

This is a great way to learn about the world, and still have familiar things included along the way. Highly recommend to middle school readers.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

This was less trying to hard to be geeky.
I quite enjoyed it actually.:)

If you wanna get your kids to read...let them try this.

Another good book from the Sherlock Sam series. The story was interesting. I liked the glossary and the activities at the end. Recommended for primary and middle school kids (and people like me who read everything).

Note - I received a free copy of the book from the publisher. This has not influenced my review in any way.

I read Bahasa Indonesia version and the review is written in Bahasa Indonesia
